Dragonflight, the latest World of Warcraft expansion was released on November 28, 2022. But do we know anything about a possible new WoW expansion in the future?
WoW New Expansion
Some images were datamined from the retail World of Warcraft patch 9.1.5. One of the images contained a new moon-themed transmog set.
Blizzard has a history of making new store mounts/transmog sets available before the next expansion is released. They become unobtainable as soon as the expansion comes out. If the same pattern continues, we may see a new moon-themed wow expansion that has something to do with Elune.
A new World of Warcraft expansion is released after every two years. Here is a table that outlines the release date of each new WoW expansion.
WoW Expansion | Release Date |
---|---|
World of Warcraft (aka Vanilla WoW) | November 23, 2004 |
The Burning Crusade (aka TBC) | January 16, 2007 |
Wrath of the Lich King (aka WotLK) | November 13, 2008 |
Cataclysm (aka Cata) | December 7, 2010 |
Mists of Pandaria (aka MoP) | September 25, 2012 |
Warlords of Draenor (aka WoD) | November 13, 2014 |
Legion | August 30, 2016 |

Shadowlands | November 23, 2020 |
Dragonflight | November 28, 2022 |
The modern WoW may sound fun but many of us still like to experience the original game. That’s why Blizzard started to relaunch the earlier expansions of the game from Vanilla WoW. Here is a table that outlines the release date of each new classic WoW expansion.
Classic WoW Expansion | Release Date |
---|---|
World of Warcraft Classic (aka WoW Classic) | August 26, 2019 |
The Burning Crusade Classic (aka TBC Classic) | June 1, 2021 |
Wrath of the Lich King Classic | September 26, 2022 |
